Thread: How to create a potato cannon

So this guide will explain how to create a potato cannon I must warn you this is a dangerous creation as you are lighting flammable vapors to shoot a potato at high speeds so I am not responsible if you somehow hurt yourself or others using this, as with any form of gun/projectile launcher exercise caution when loading and shooting it treat it as if it is loaded at all times (meaning dont look down the barrel ever) dont shoot people with it and dont violate local laws by threatening humans or causing damage to personal and state property.

The estimated price was $40 but most of these items people have sitting around their house and his prices were high anyways so its going to be $15ish.

Parts you will need
-5 feet of 1.5" ABS (DWV) pipe
-2 feet of 3" ABS pipe
-A 3" to 1.5" reducer
-A 3" threaded adapter
-A 3" end cap
-A lantern ignitor because BBQ ones suck, you can just tear apart some old Coleman one you have in the attic (+Screw/s)
-ABS cement
-Cheap aerosol hairspray
-Potatoes
-Hacksaw
-Drill

Assembly
-Cut the 3" pipe to about 13" or a size you prefer (the larger the combustion chamber; the more gas; the more boom)
-Make sure the reducer fits over the pipe
-Spread some ABS cement on the inside of the reducer and outside of one end of the pipe, slide the reducer onto the pipe with a twisting method
-Repeat this for the threaded adapter
-Repeat this for the barrel (5' of 1.5" pipe)
-Double check your gluing job on the pipes
-Drill a hole in the 3" pipe for the metal lead from the ignitor to fit (isnt a big deal where most people opt for the center), mount the ignitor using the screw/s you bought

-Take a file/knife and sharpen the end of your barrel so your potato fits in easier

your finished product should look like this:


Shooting
-Unscrew the end cap
-Force a potato into the barrel (this is easier seeing as you sharpened it with a file/knife like I advised)
-Pack it down with a stick, make sure its still inside the barrel, and not the combustion chamber
-Spray some hair spray into the 3" pipe for 2-3seconds
-Quickly screw the end cap on
-Point and shoot
*make sure these are done in order and the potato is put down the front barrel not the back where the cap was >.<

Once again if you do decide to make this exercise caution when using it and if for some reason you get advised by a person to use gasoline in a spray bottle they are retarded and dont listen to them they obviously havent tried it themselves or are intent on sending you to the hospital.
